Kayaking to Ang Thong National Marine Park in Ko Samui

Monday, 21 February 2005

We had arranged to do a kayaking tour today to visit the famous Ang Thong National Marine Park. (I scored a discounted rate when I said I was from Nakhon Pathom.) Blue Stars Kayaking company picked us up early in the morning, and we headed on a boat to Nathon Pier. We kayaked around in double kayaks, "hiked" (more like walked up and down stairs) to a viewpoint where we could take pictures near a lake, and boated to another remote beach area to swim and snorkel. The snorkeling sucked, because there was nothing to see in that area, but it was relaxing to hang out at the beach before we headed back on the very bumpy ride. On our way back, I think they were purposely going over waves to hear us scream and get splashed with huge waves, as we sunbathed on the deck. I thought we were all going to be sick, and some people actually did get sick on our way home. It was still a nice leisurely day of kayaking in the sun and admiring the rock formations and islands.

That night, we went to a Cabaret show in Central Samui and saw all the glammed up transvestite dancers perform a very entertaining show. Just think: color, feathers, and lipstick.
