Spicy Treats

Saturday, 15 December 2007

Today, we all went to the Cash-n-Carry store to get spices and containers and things to put together our own homemade food gifts for Christmas. Mom let me use a lot of her spices they had to make "Emeril's Essence" to give away. It will be something people can use, and since I haven't been working (Gosh, the last time I was actually working daily was in April of this year!) and am on a tight budget, it's something useful I can give without spending a lot of money. Gary and Mom helped me scoop out the spices because I was carrying Chase in my carrier at the same time (which he soon fell asleep in) and the spices were starting to get to me (and I didn't want Chase to start sneezing). We had to open up a window, and Gary actually had to go out in the garage to whisk the tub of spices together so that they didn't make us crazy in the house!

Chase ate half of the sweet potatoes and half of the pears, gulping them up. He's doing very well with eating his "solids" these days. In fact, I managed to feed him three times today, along with nursing, so he's doing pretty good. Hopefully, despite all the spit ups (he's still having issues with coughing and spitting up a lot), he's gaining weight. We'll see when we go to the doctor next, at the end of January.

Tonight, Mom and Gary went to a Christmas party of one of his accounts from work. It was an "adults only" party, so Chase and I had to stay home. I ate leftovers, and then I walked him over to see the other houses that were lit up in the neighborhood (and after about 5 minutes of walking in the freezing cold, went right back to the warm house). I fed him and started to bathe him, but it's a good thing they came home soon after that, because I needed help holding him up in the sink (a little hard with one person).

Chase was in a very good mood today, very talkative, playful, and observant as usual.
