A Party for Dad

Sunday, 14 August 2005

Woke up early and picked up Stacy to head to Restaurant Row for the Fashionista's designer sample sale at Ocean's. Melissa met us there, but it was only window shopping for us. We went to Sam Choy's afterwards for brunch and grinded on loco mocos. Went to Ala Moana Shopping Center to say hi to old high school buddy Janelle.

Later that afternoon, I picked up a Kozo sushi platter and headed to McCoy Pavilion for a party put together by Dad's city coworkers and sports buddies. They had put a sign out, which said "Seminar in Session" , to alert people of the important get-together at my dad's old workplace. It was nice to see familiar faces that I grew up with at the various parks my dad managed all over the city of Honolulu. There was tons of food, about thirty people came and went over the next few hours; and of course, like true Hawai'i style, the party ended with karaoke.

Dad was so excited to see everyone, and they had made posters with old pictures of my dad playing basketball and volleyball. He hardly ate, he was so excited and enjoyed catching up with everyone. It has been a long time since I have seen him so happy.
