Trudging in the Rain

Sunday, 4 November 2007

I managed to get to 7 am yoga again this morning, and the second day in a row always feels better! It was a great workout, well worth the trudging up the 85 stairs in the pouring cold rain (I actually had to wipe mud off my feet and mat when I got to class it was coming down so hard.).

The weather forecast is wet, wet, wet this week. We actually had a flash flood watch today. And, tonight, boy did it pour. This afternoon, we decided that the only safe place out of the rain was the indoor Kahala Mall. We hung out there a little bit today and enjoyed a yummy Cinnabon. Then, we went to the Halsalls before going to dinner at Big City Diner. It took awhile for us to get out of the restaurant after dinner because it was pouring down rain and everyone had forgoten their umbrellas in the car. Chris was the only one with a jacket, so he was sent to get the car, and one by one we filed in the car. I should have been wearing galoshes because my feet and slippers got soaked splashing in the puddles, or should I say, river flowing down the parking lot. Such an ugly night.

We spent the rest of the evening at their house watching the thunderstorm, with tons of lightning. Chase was wide awake, and so the grandparents played with him while I napped on the couch, all cuddled up in a blanket. We debated staying overnight there so we wouldn't have to trudge back down the stairs in the rain, but in the end we decided to come home.

Chase is not happy now, of course, as we're all cleaned up and trying to head to bed. The rain has finally subsided, but I'm sure it will downpour again in the middle of the night. Many neighborhoods lost their electricity, and there is a lot of mud and rivers flowing down the street. We haven't had this much rain in awhile. It's wet out there!
