Thunderstorm

Wednesday, 28 November 2007

We got hit with thunder and lightning storms from about 3 am - 8 am this morning. At 2:30 am, I had gone outside to put up a tarp around our new water heater. It's a good thing we did that because it poured today! Rain came in the house from all sides. I thought there was going to be a tsunami or an earthquake or something! The clothes were flying around on the deck, and water was leaking in the house through a termite-eaten hole in one of the window sills. Chris and I ran around the house closing everything up and wiping everything down with towels. It was crazy! We laid down tarp and dry towels underneath the windows in case more rain comes. Guess there was a flash flood warning in effect today. Chris was late to work because of the chaos, and it's a good thing Chase was fast asleep through it all!

This afternoon, I led an inservice/professional development workshop for my teaching staff at school. Although one of my power points didn't work with all of the bells and whistles, the meeting went well. The teachers are now well informed about the ELL Program, Title III funds, and supplanting vs. supplementing in preparation for next week's audit.

Went to dinner at local favorite Kim Chee 2 with Leinora and Ron, and their sons Caid and Drew. They came for vacation from Seattle, taking advantage of the new Alaska airline route to Hawaii. The kids made smoothies with the Korean food in their cups, as the adults caught up about the virtual academy Leinora is now working for and their stay in Hawai'i. Thanks for all the Trader Joe goodies and gifts for Chase!
