Tragic News In Hawai'i

Thursday, 17 January 2008

Chase was very verbal all day today. He tired himself out and fought going to sleep, so he was bit fussy with Miya towards the end of the morning. She said put him in the swing, and he would lean his head forward, trying to sit up so he wouldn't have to lay down for sleep. He always wants to play with Taiga and gets really excited when Taiga is around.

There was horrific news today in Honolulu. At around 11:45 am, a 23 year old man (who has been mentally unstable) threw a two year old neighbor boy off the pedestrian overpass (near the Pali Hwy) onto the freeway. The boy got hit by a couple of cars, but died instantly from the throw. The police stopped traffic and closed the freeway entirely this afternoon. It's all the news this afternoon. So sad and shocking to think that someone could do such a horrific thing to an innocent child. Very, very tragic.

We went to the Halsalls for dinner, and he was super vocal and had fun hitting down a stack of blocks. He is sitting up really well on his own, which gives him a better view of things around him. Last night, he even grabbed a ball and tried to put it in the hole of a game he likes to play with. He's getting really good with his hands these days (Uh, oh...Better watch out!).
